A world heritage of humanity framed in the beauty of enchanted valleys, a short distance from the Slovenian border. The Roman name of Cividale - Forum Iulii – is the source of the name of the Friuli Venezia Giulia Region: this town founded by Julius Caesar in 53 a.d. is a UNESCO World Heritage site. It offers many treasures and artistic masterpieces for visitors to discover along the streets of its center, witnesses of the encounter among many different cultures that have occupied and contaminated the area. Framing the town are the lovely Valleys of Natisone, where you can taste the gubana, a typical dessert made in the shape of a snail and almost a symbol of the district. The cuisine of the Valleys, influenced by the vicinity of Slovenia, is rich in the flavors of this land: aromatic herbs, mushrooms, truffles, cheese and apples. Much more than cuisine is here to enjoy, however, there are also breathtaking views, places for relaxation and others for sports: trekking, fishing, hiking and mountain biking for a day immersed in nature.
